Ancillary orders

The Council has today published a response to the 2024 consultation on proposed changes to improve the consistency, presentation and accessibility of our guidance on ancillary orders available on conviction.

Following this consultation, we will be bringing into effect on 1 July 2025:

  • amendments to existing guidance on ancillary orders to make the information clearer and more consistent, and
  • new guidance for six ancillary orders: animal destruction orders; forfeiture of equipment used in animal welfare offences; parenting orders – child; serious crime prevention orders on conviction; sub-letting – unlawful profit orders; and travel restriction orders

We will also be providing guidance on specific ancillary orders from within relevant guidelines and extending the guidance to users of the Crown Court sentencing guidelines. The guidance was previously available only alongside magistrates’ courts sentencing guidelines.
