Between 11 September and 4 December 2024, the Council ran a public consultation seeking views on proposed additions and changes to a package of guidance on ancillary orders available on conviction. We published our response to the consultation on 25 June 2025.

The purpose of this work was to:

• improve the consistency, presentation and accessibility of the guidance on ancillary orders available on conviction
• provide guidance on specific ancillary orders from within relevant guidelines, and
• extend the guidance to users of the Crown Court sentencing guidelines. The guidance was previously available only alongside magistrates’ courts sentencing guidelines
