His Honour Judge Simon Drew KC has been appointed to the Sentencing Council by the Lord Chief Justice, with the agreement of the Lord Chancellor.

Simon was called to the bar in 1987. He practiced criminal law from chambers in London and then Birmingham and took silk in 2011. He was appointed as a Recorder of the Crown Court in 2005, a Circuit Judge in 2012 and, in 2022, a Circuit Judge sitting in the Court of Appeal Criminal Division.

Simon has been appointed to the Council with effect from Tuesday 12 May 2022.
