The Sentencing Council for England and Wales, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Legal Professional Practice at the City Law School, City, University of London, invite you to a seminar on Wednesday 7th November 2018 from 10am to 4pm.

This one-day event will give delegates an opportunity to find out more about the work of the Sentencing Council and explore how sentencing researchers, academics and the Council can work together more closely on areas of mutual interest.

The event will also be an opportunity to showcase other research work already being undertaken in areas relevant to the work of the Sentencing Council. This might include, for example, research relating to sentencing guidelines, the findings of wider sentencing-related research or new approaches or methodologies in this area.  There will be sessions discussing how to maximise the impact of sentencing research, with  examples of options for funding sentencing research.

We are now inviting proposals for short presentations that would address any of these themes. Presentations should be around 20 minutes, which would allow for time to take questions.

If you would like to be considered to present at this event, please submit – in no more than 150 words – a title and abstract for your presentation, highlighting how you think it would contribute to the theme of the event.  Please email Emma Marshall at research@sentencingcouncil.gov.uk by no later than close Tuesday 4 September.

Alternatively, if you would like to secure a space at this free event, please email by Friday 7 September.

We look forward to seeing you there.
