We are pleased to welcome the appointment of Dr Elaine Freer as a non-judicial member of the Sentencing Council for a period of 3 years. The appointment was made by the Lord Chancellor in consultation with the Lord Chief Justice.

Dr Freer is a Fellow and College Teaching Officer in law at Robinson College in the University of Cambridge, where she teaches Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Evidence, and Criminology, Sentencing and the Penal System, and is a practising barrister a 5 Paper Buildings.
