2017-18

The Sentencing Council has published a business plan setting out its aims and objectives for 2017/18. These aims and objectives include publishing three definitive guidelines: Breach Offences, Bladed Articles and Offensive Weapons and Terrorism, and continuing work to prepare, and consult on, seven proposed guidelines covering: intimidatory offences; offences where domestic abuse is a feature; child cruelty offences; manslaughter; public order offences; and arson and criminal damage.

The plan is published annually and updated if there are any significant changes during the course of the year.

2015-16

The sixth annual report from the Sentencing Council outlines the Council’s activities from April 2015 to March 2016. The report details our work on guidelines covering: allocation; dangerous dogs; guilty pleas; health and safety; robbery; theft; and imposition of community and custodial sentences. It looks at the early development stages of guidelines on breaches or orders; child cruelty; interpersonal offences; domestic abuse; knives; manslaughter; public order offences; and youth sentencing. The report also explores the Council’s ongoing analysis and research into sentencing, as well as the work it does to promote awareness of and confidence in sentencing guidelines.

The Sentencing Council published its fifth annual report outlining activities from April 2014 to March 2015. The report details the Council’s work on guidelines covering: fraud; theft; robbery; health and safety, corporate manslaughter and food hygiene; and dangerous dog offences. It also covers the Council’s ongoing analysis and research into sentencing, as well as the work it does to promote awareness of and confidence in sentencing guidelines.

The Sentencing Council published its fourth annual report outlining activities from April 2013 to March 2014. The report details the Council’s work on guidelines covering: sexual offences, fraud, environmental offences and theft.

The Sentencing Council published its first business plan setting out its aims and objectives for 2013-14. The plan was updated on 30 September 2013.
